Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained three suspected members of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) at Jamira village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district early Sunday.
They are Shariful Islam alias Sharif, 45, Jakaria Hossain Jakkar, 43, and
Ataur Rahman alias Ahsan Hazi, 35.
The elite force personnel seized four bombs also, eight bullets, two pistols, one IED and some bomb making elements, RAB official said.
Lt Col Mahbubul Alam, Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-5, said, “A team of the elite force conducted a drive in the village and arrested them with arms and explosives.”
The RAB members entered the mills where some JMB men were holding a clandestine meeting to carry out subversive activities. They detained three JMB men though others managed to escape, the RAB official said.
The arrested men were working to collect information to invest money and to train the JMB members how to make bombs, the CO said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, he added.
