Three innovative education services were launched on the main stage of Amar Ekushey Book Fair in the Bangla Academy Campus in the city aiming to make contents of textbooks easily understandable to the children.
The inauguration ceremony was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Access to Information (a2i) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Professor Dr. Jafar Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology inaugurated the services as the chief guest of the event, a press release said on Saturday.
Additional Secretary at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Education Mohammad Aminul Islam Khan chaired the event.
The services included an “augmented reality” technology based android app called “Bornokhela” dedicated towards enhancing creativity among students who are in pre-primary school or have special needs, science related entertaining game “Bigganer Rajje” (Kingdom of Science) developed on science textbooks for students of classes six to eight.
A YouTube channel “Haater Muthoy Biggan (Science in our grip)” containing assistive animated education content for students of classes eight to ten.
By holding “Bornokhela” app, downloadable from Google Playstore, in front of alphabets in pre-primary school textbooks, the pronunciation of the alphabets can be listened to and a 3D floating image would appear on the mobile screen.
“Bigganer Rajje”, downloadable from Google Playstore and Apple app store, allows students to understand and learn the difficult topics of science textbooks through playing an educational game. “HaaterMuthoy Biggan (Science in our grip)” also allows students to understand difficult lessons in science by viewing and listening to animation, graphics, and music.
Among others, a2i’s Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury, Director of Innovation Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Specialist of Education Faruk Ahmed, Technology Expert of Education Mohammad Rafiqul Islam and officials from the Education Ministry and senior officials of different organizations, were present at the event.
