UNB, Sherpur :
Miscreants vandalised three idols in a Hindu temple at Pratabnagar area in Jhenaigati upazila early Sunday.
Local people suspected that miscreants swooped on the temple sometime at night after the devotees left it around 9 pm Saturday and vandalised the three idols installed ahead of Durga Puja.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the worshipers went to the temple. They found three idols, including one of Durga, broken around 7 am.
Being informed, police, representatives of upazila puja celebration committee and local Awami League leaders visited the spot.
Condemning the incident, Gopal Chandra Sen, president of Jhenigati upazila Puja Udjapon Parishad, demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those involved in the incident.
