3 held with narcotics in Rangpur and Jashore

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized consignments of cannabis, phensedyl, and yaba from Rangpur and Jessore border areas on Friday.
In Rangpur, Rapid Action Battalion detained two suspected drug dealers with 21kg of cannabis and 356 bottles of phensedyl from a stone-laden truck on Friday morning.
The detained were truck driver Shahidul Islam and his assistant Khairul Bashar.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hafizur Rahman, company commander of Rangpur RAB-13 confirmed the matter.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a drive at the Joyrampur village of Rangpur’s Mithapukur upazila and detained them with the contrabands, said ASP Hafizur.
The detainees confessed of dealing contrabands in different parts of the country, which were supplied to them through the Lalmonirhat border, added Hafizur.In Jessore, members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a man reportedly with 364 pieces of yaba tablets from Shikri village on Friday night.
The detained was identified as Sadikuzzaman Rubel, 24, son of Bablu Molla of Bhobarber village under Benapole police station, reports our Benapole correspondent Md Selim Reja.
Nayeb Subedar Shahidul Islam, company commander of Benapole BGB battalion, said a team led by Habildar Abdur Rouf was on patrol in Shikri village region after being tipped off that a motorcycle would carry yaba tablets toward the Putkhali border.
When the motorbike arrived at the patrol zone, BGB members chased the motorcycle from which Sadikuzzaman accidentally fell off. Afterwards BGB found the yaba tablets upon searching his body, the Nayeb Subedar added.
The detained was handed over to Benapole Port police station after a case was lodged in this connection.
