Chittagong Highway police in a drive arrested three drug traders with 6,800 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Salimpur area on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Sitakunda upazila of the district early Saturday.
Ashikur Rahman, Highway Police Sergeant said the yaba tablets were seized from a microbus on the highway.Rahman said, “The microbus turned sharply towards Chittagong when we signaled it to stop at Baro Aulia.”
Police chased the microbus and stopped it at Salimpur. However, the driver fled away, he added.
The Yaba consignment was being carried on it to Dhaka from Teknaf, the sergeant added.
The arrestees were identified as Nurul Amin, 18, Mahmud Ullah, 20, and Monu Mia, 70, all hailed from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
