Chittagong Metropolitan Police in separate drives detained three persons with 2,500 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from city’s Shah Amanat bridge area under Bakalia thana on Sunday midnight and Monday morning.
The arrestees were identified as Rashed, 28, Saddam Hossain, 25 and Abul Hossain, 18.
A team of Bakalia thana police on secret information raided two salt-laden trucks in Shah Amanat bridge area around 8.30 am today and arrested Saddam and Abul with 2000 pieces of yaba tablets kept under the drivers’ seats of the trucks, said Mohammad Mohsin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakalia police station.
The drugs were collected from Teknaf and being taken to Comilla, the OC added.
Besides, Bakalia police in another drive detained Rashed with 500 pieces of yaba tablets from the same spot around 2 am on Sunday midnight.
RAB forces accompanied with Baizid thana police under CMP rounded up one Shafiqur Rahman from a residence of Shershah colony under Baizid thana in city on Saturday .
The law enforces after searching the residence of the alleged accused recovered 700 pieces yaba from his possession.
Acting on secret information, RAB and police forces conducted raid a residence in 6 th floor of a building in Shershah colony and managed to apprehend the yaba trader on red-handed.
Sources said a number of accomplices of Shafiqur Rahman reside in the same residence and deals with yaba trading in Chittgong.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, other accomplices of the detained Shafiq quickly escaped from the spot, sources said.
