3 get life for murdering teenage girl after rape in Barisal

A Barisal court on Wednesday afternoon sentenced three accused to life term imprisonment for murdering teenage girl after rape.
Sheikh Abu Taher, judge of the tribunal for preventing oppression against women and children announced this verdict after examining 16 witnesses and other evidences.
The sentenced three accused were Swapan Haoladar, Samir Haldar, and Gournga Haldar.
All them were sentenced to life imprisonment with per head Tk 50 thousand as fine for abduction, rape and murder and 5-year more imprisonment with per head Tk. 5 thousand fines for concealing dead body.
Principal accused Swapan Haoladar also gets more 14-year imprisonment with Tk. 10 thousand fine under act for preventing torture against women and children.
The other three accused Rafikuddin Haoladar, Moksed Haoladar and Safizuddin were acquitted from charges after found not guilty by the court.
Among the accused only Swapan Haoladar was present in the court during announcing judgement.
Ajibor Rahman, bench clerk of the court, said according to the case history victim Roksana Aktar, 15, was daughter of Kader Fakir of Kasba, Gournadi. She went to Kauarekha village of Wazirpur upazila to visit her maternal grand mother.
On February 23, 2000, Roksana was watching film on VCR and neighbouring youth Swapan invited her to take dinner at his home.
At 10 PM when she went out to attend the invitation, Swapan Haoladar, Samir Haldar, Gournga Haldar abducted her to a nearby garden and strangled her to death after gang rape.
The family member after searching recovered concealed dead body of the victim from the safety tank of the toilet of near by Atul Haldar and informed police.
Lalon Fakir, elder brother of Roksana, lodged a case against six accused with Wazirpur police station on March 16, 2000 after receiving postmortem report.
Sub Inspector Abdul Hakim, investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet against the six accused on January 26, 2003.
