A mobile court led by AC (Land) of Matlab Uttar and Executive Magistrate Shuvashis Ghose jailed three jatka fishermen for one year each on charge of their fishing Jatka fish in the Meghna river near Ekhlaspur launch ghat area in Matlab Uttar area defying Government ban on fishing for two months – March-April on Wednesday afternoon. The jailed fishermen are Rashed Mollah, 50, Md Alauddin 40, and Yunus Dahli, 70, all residents of Bororchar area under Matlab Uttar Upazila. Then they all were sent to jail hazot.Earlier, they were caught red handed while fishing near Ekhlaspur launch ghat area by a River Police team led by Police Inspector Md Nasiruddin of Mohonpur River Police Outpost. Police also seized five kg jatka and 15 thousand metres of current nets from their possession. Later, the nets were burnt to ashes. The seized jatka fish fries were distributed among the orphans of the local orphanage.
