Rohingya NID: 3 EC employees placed on remand

The detained three data entry operators of Chattogram Election Commission (EC) office have been placed on two-day remand today for their alleged involvement in providing National Identity Cards (NIDs) and smart cards to Rohingyas.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Saleh Mohammad Noman passed the order to place Mohammad Shahin, data entry operator of Kotwali thana EC office, Pavel Barua of Double-Mooring Thana EC office and Mohammad Jahid, data entry operator of Bandar thana EC office, on two days remand each after police prayed for a seven-day remand.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Kamruzzaman said the Anti-
Corruption Commission (ACC) in its investigation has found that the fake NID and smart cards were prepared for Rohingyas by using an EC laptop which went missing from its Chattogram office.
