3 die in clash over train tickets

A fracas over purchasing train tickets turned deadly on Friday at Natore’s Lalpur, leaving at least 3 persons dead and ten others injured.
The clash erupted at Iswardi Bypass railway station at around 9.30 am on Friday, said Lalpur Police Station OC Abdul Hye Talukdar.
“We have rushed a force to control the situation after hearing of the clash from the railway police,” Talukder said.
Iswardi’s health complex official Momin Uddin confirmed to this news agency the death of at least three persons in this clash.
Local railway and police officials told bdnews24.com that trouble first started when Abdur Razzaq was injured in a fight that broke out over purchase of advance train tickets between tea seller Motaleb Hossain of Daharsola and Hafizur Islam and Abdur Razzaq Eighteen-year old Jibon Hossain and 25 year old Rana Hossain of Daharsola village died in the Iswardi health complex. 26-year old Julmat Hossain succumbed to his wounds in the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
Iswardi health complex official Momin Uddin told bdnews24.com: “Those injured have cut wounds or have been hit on the head by lathis.”
The other injured are being treated in local hospitals at Iswardi.
“The fight started over a really trivial issue. Tea seller Motaleb Hussain was accused of pushing passengers in the queue. Then local toughs turned up, the clash became really violent in the absence of police,” said eye-witness Abdul Hannan.
Lalpur police station OC Abdul Hye Talukder said the situation was now under control but tense.
