Three men died at the Kushtia General Hospital early Wednesday after reportedly drinking copious amounts of locally distilled liquor.
The deceased were identified as Ripon Kumar Ghosh, 32, son of Obesh Ghosh of Khoksha upazila, Nitai Biswas, son of Debendranath Biswas of Mirpur upazila and Anik Biswas, 21, son of Topon Biswas of Sadar upazila.
Sanwar Hossain, in-charge of Kushita General Hospital police camp, said Nitai was brought to the hospital around midnight while Anik was taken there around 4am and Ripon around 5am. They fell sick after drinking an ‘excessive amount of liquor’, he said.
SM Tanvir Arafat, superintendent of Kushita Police, said they are investigating the incident and the reason behind their deaths will be clear after getting autopsy reports.
