The journalists of Chittagong irrespective opinions demanded immediate arrest of Chhatra League leader Rashed and his accomplices before February 21 next. The chatra league activists led by Chittagong Medical College unit BCL attacked the photojournalist of Protom Alo Jewel Shil during discharging his duties there.
This ultimatum was announced from a human chain arranged jointly by Chittagong Union of Journalists and the Photo Journalist Association of Chittagong in front of Chittagong Press Club yesterday afternoon.
The rally was told that beside the arrest of BCL leader arrest , his studentship should be abrogated on or before Feb 21 otherwise tougher movement will be enforced from February 22 next.
President of the CUJ Ejaz Yousfi also spoke in the protest rally . He further said if the culprits are not arrested within the ultimatum period, tougher movement like human chain, protest rally etc will be enforced.
The speakers in the human chain also said if the attackers on Jewel shil are not apprehended withing the stipulated time, any news of the CMCH will be covered by the journos.
President of Chittagong Press club Kalim Sarwar, general secretary Mohsin Chowdury duly conducted by Shamsul Islam spoke on the occasion criticizing the role of the chatra league activists in Chittgong Medical College area. CPC President alleged that Panchalaish thana Officer did not behave well with the photo journalist Jewel asked him to leave the police station immediately after filing a GD.
The speakers in the human chain called upon the Panchalaish thana to apprehend the culprits immediately aimed at desired punishment.
