A three-day international ceramic exposition will kick off in the city from December 5 to facilitate universal exposure of the country’s ceramic manufacturers.
Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA) is organizing the fair titled “Ceramic Expo Bangladesh-2019” at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) for the second of its kind.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the expo on December 5 while Prime Minister’s Advisor for Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman to be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony on December 7. This was disclosed today at a press conference held at Dhaka Club here where BCMEA president Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah and General Secretary Irfan Uddin spoke.
“The basic objective of the fair is to munch a large share of global market with their world standard new products,” organizers said.
More than 120 Participants with 150 brands of ceramic and allied products from 20 countries including hosts Bangladesh along with 300 international delegates and 500 buyer hosts are expected to join one of the largest ceramic exhibitions in Asia.
In last ten years, Mollah said Bangladesh ceramic sector witnessed 200 percent growth in production and 20 percent in investment with earning of five crore US dollar foreign currency annually by exporting to 50 countries around the world.
Mentioning that the country’s ceramic industry contains Taka 8,500 crore investment with direct and indirect employments of five lakh human resources, the BCMEA president said, “Bangladesh ceramic industry is a booming sector and growth potential of both domestic and international market indicates that it may become one of the biggest foreign exchange earners for the country,”.
