3-day Heritage Handloom Festival kicks off in city on October 4

A three-day Heritage Handloom Festival-2018 will be held in the hall room of Khazana Gardenia (Gulshan) in the city.
This exhibition is a joint effort of SME Foundation and Association of Fashion Designers’ Bangladesh (AFDB), aiming at promoting local handloom products.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the festival on Thursday next as the chief guest while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will remain present as special guest.
Managing Director of Sqaure Toiletries Anjan Chowdhury will also attend the inaugural ceremony.
The show has generated some buzz in the niche segment primarily as the top fashion designers of Bangladesh are associated with it.
Designers associated with Heritage Handloom Festival include Mantasha Ahmed, Kuhu Plamdon, Nowshin Khair, Renuka Chakma, Biblob Saha and Shamim Akhtar. “It is a great event which will showcase seven kinds of handloom products in seven stalls,” Mantasha Ahmed, President of AFDB, told reporters at a media briefing on Thursday.
She said this exhibition would promote traditional handloom products.
These are Jamdani, Nakshi Katha, Mirpur Benaroshi, Handloom products of Sirajganj, Tangail, Manipur and Rangamati.
