3 commit suicide in Jessore in a day

Two housewives and a young man allegedly committed suicide in three separate incidents in Jessore town and Sadar and Keshabpur upazilas on Wednesday.
Police sources said a housewife, Shamima Akter Shapna, 26, daughter of Shafiar Rahman, committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling of her room at Bejpara Azimabad colony in the town early Thursday.
Locals said she had been deserted by her husband recently, which left her mentally devastated.
Informed, a team of police from Kotwali Police Station came in, recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Another housewife, Parvina,45, in an attempt to kills herself took pesticide at Doulotdihi village of Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening.
She was later rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital, where she died while under treatment early Thursday.
Police, quoting the deceased’s family members, linked the suicide to a family feud.
A college student, Milon Das, 20, of Sarutia village under Keshabpur upazila, also took pesticide in a bid to bring an end to his life on Wednesday evening.
He was rushed to Keshabpur upazila health complex where he died later.
Son of Porimol Das and an HSC 2nd year student at a local college, Milon took pesticide following pressure from his family to perform well in studies, said police sources and his father.
