At least three more persons, including a patient, committed suicide in separate districts of the country on Saturday.
In Sirajganj, a teenage boy committed suicide after hearing that his equal age lover committed suicide by taking poison in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shahed Ali, 15, son of one Moinuddin of Raghunali village of the upazila and her lover
Rubina Khatun, 15, daughter of one Abdur Rauf of Chak Joykrishnapur village. Both of them were ninth graders at Chak Joykrishnapur Dakhil Madrasa.
Local sources said that Rubina consumed poison following a quarrel with her mother in the morning and died on way to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital around 10:00am. On the other hand, after receiving her death news, boyfriend Shahed hanged himself at home instantly.
Mostafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tarash Police Station, said that the teenagers reportedly had romantic relationship. Police are investigating the matter.
In Noakhali, a patient reportedly committed suicide in a hospital at Chatkhil Upazila of Noakhali district on Saturday.
Deceased Rina Akter, 22, was the wife of Abul Kalam, from Monoharganj upazila of Cumilla district.
Quoting hospital sources, the OC of Chatkhil Police Station A S M Samsuddin told the news media that Rina committed suicide by hanging herself at midnight in the Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, pregnant Rina was taken to the Health Complex after she felt labour pain.
At night, she came to know after ultrasonography Test was done that fetus in her womb was dead. The shocking news might lead her to kill self, citing the sources, the OC added.
