At least three persons were arrested from the city’s different areas in connection with the murder case of Readymade Garments worker Delwar Hossain.
A team of law enforcing agencies in separate drives arrested them by using modern technology, Sakil Jawarder, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and also Sub-Inspector of Hatirkjheel Police Station, told The New Nation on Friday evening.
However, the IO did not disclose the names of the arrested men for the sake of proper investigation.
In the meantime, the arrested men were sent to jail as per an order of a Dhaka court.
Earlier, the IO produced the arrested men with a remand plea, but the court denied the remand prayer and sent them to the jail, police said.
We are trying to unveil the motive behind the murder, the IO said.
A panic prevails in the Easy Fashion Garment Factory where Delwar Hossain was stabbed to death by his colleagues on charge of theft of cloths early Thursday, he said.
The plane clothes men of the law enforcing agencies are working in the garment area as the previous demonstrators will not get any chance to demonstrate on the roads, DMP sources said.
Earlier, hundreds of Readymade Garment workers have staged demonstration on Progati Sarani Road to protest the brutal death of their colleague.
Soon after spreading death news of their colleague on Thursday, they blocked the road from Malibagh Rail Gate to Baridahra for around five hours.
Anisur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP),
said that they picked up at least three staff of the garment factory, but the names of the persons could not be disclose for the sake of the investigation.
“Workers and employees of the factory have beaten up the Delwar on suspicion of theft along with the factory’s security guard Moyeen,” he said.
On information, police rescued Delwar and sent him to DMCH, where doctors declared him dead, Anisur Rahman said.
“Moyeen is currently under police custody. He was given primary treatment at the DMCH. An investigation has been launched,” said a police officer.
