3 ‘Ansar al-Islam militants’ held in Rajshahi

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday claimed to have arrested three members of banned militant outfit Ansar al-Islam at Jamira village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district on Sunday night.
The arrested persons were identified as Raju Ahmed, 24,
Farhad Hossain, 30, and Jahangir Alam, 36.
They also recovered thee radically influential books and some leaflets from their possession, RAB official said.
A team of RAB-5 conducted a drive based on information at Jamira village members arrested Raju Ahmed, reports our Rajshahi correspondent quoting Major Ashraful Islam, company commander of RAB-5.
Based on his statement, they conducted a raid the village and arrested Farhad Jahangir, the RAB official said.
The arrestees confessed to their involvement with the Ansar al-Islam, said he said.
They were being interrogated in connection with the militant activities, he added. A case was filed with regarding the incident with the police station.
