Customs Officials detained a man with 35 gold bars weighing 3.5 Kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA)on Monday afternoon.
Md Habibur Rahman was detained from inside the flight TG321 that landed at the airport around 3:00pm from Singapore via Bangkok, said SM Sohel Rahman, Joint Commissioner of Customs.
After detention, Customs Officials took
Habibur to the green channel and seized the gold bars from his sports anklet, bag and moneybag, he said.
The current market price of the gold is estimated to be Tk 1.75 crore.
A case was filed with the Airport Police Station in this connection.
