Mother, son killing: 2nd marriage main clue for Kakrail murder!

Cops interrogating several suspects, including husband, co-wife

The investigators suspect that the second marriage of Abdul Karim might be the main clue for the murders of Shamshun Nahar and her son Sajjadul Karim Shaon at their own house in the city’s Karail.
The detectives claimed that they have gathered some vital information in the primary interrogation of the sensational killing incident, which will be disclosed soon after finishing the grilling.
They have detained at least nine persons, including the prime suspect Shamshun Nahar’s husband Abdul Karim and his second wife Sharmin Akter Mukta for interrogation to unearth the causes of the murder.
Members of the Detective Branch of Police have already started the ‘shadow investigation’ of the Kakrail murder incident while forensic team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is examining the crime scene.
Ramna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam said that they are interrogating Abdul Karim, Sharmin Akter Mukta and some others to interrogate the twin murder.
We are primarily sure that the murder of Kakrail was committed over family dispute centering the second marriage of Abdul Karim, the police official said.
He also denoted the trade clash as the second cause and business issue also the minor reason of the gruesome murder.
 “We are investigating the double murder with giving the priority of detained men’s statements and collected crime sample,” the OC added.
The OC opined that the murder was committed by some hired unidentified crimals as per the direction of joined plot of Karim and Mukta.
 “Karim has repeatedly threatened for silting throat of Shamshun Nahar over almost daily based clash over the second marriage with Mukta,” the OC said.
The film producer and businessman Karim got married to model Mukta a few years ago and the information came into Shamshun Nahar knowledge just last December. He stayed with Mukta in a flat in Paltan area since March this year. He threatened to silt the throat of Shamshun Nahar that came into true on Thursday evening, according to him.
When contacted, Krisnapada Roy, Joint Commissioner (JC) of the DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said, ” We collected the recent call records (CDR) of the deceased and their relatives. Investigators also collected crime samples and the CC cameras’ photos from nearby areas. After the justifying, we will reach a decision about the murder.”
We are investigating all suspects sumptuously to test the crime scene to unearth the clue of the gruesome murder, the police official said.
At least seven to eight hired killers might have entered the flat from the behind and fled from there the same way, he added.
 “We have started special raid in Kakrail area and other parts of the city while massive security measures also taken to nab the killers,” the JC said.
Cops are not sure that seized knife had used to silt the throats of the deceased, he added.
He motioned only names of four detained men. They are: Karim, Mukta, guard Abdul Noman and domestic help Rasheda Begum.
He ensured that details of the murder would be revealed after investigation.
Rasheda told the police that she had come for work after the Magrib prayers and was let in by Shamsun Nahar.
“I was washing dishes in the kitchen, when I heard the kitchen door close behind me. When I tried to open it I found it locked and called for help,” she said.
Rasheda was eventually let out by a caretaker, Abdul Noman, who had heard her shouting and the two then found the bodies. Shamsun Nahar was Karim’s first wife, and he also married to Mukta. Shamsun Nahar has two other sons who live outside of the country and she has recently returned after performing Hajj, she said.
The bodies have been sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Karim’s nephew Abdul Basit said that Abdul Karim hailed from Munshiganj. His two other sons, Anik and Munna, are in Canada and UK respectively on student visas.
He also added that he was unaware of the second marriage.
A neighbored Zakir said that Karim involved in clash with Shamashun Nahar almost regularly and threatened her to kill by silting throat.
According to sources, Karim has several types of business, including a shop in capital’s Shyambazar.
Earlier, police found Shamsun Nahar’s body next to a prayer mat (jainamaj) in her bedroom on the fourth floor of the building at around 6:30pm on Thursday. Shaon’s body was found on the staircase of the third floor.
