Customs intelligence and investigation officials on Friday seized 295 cartons of foreign-made cigarettes and a gold bar from two passengers of Air Arabia at Shah Amanat International Airport.
On a tip-off, the officials recovered the 295 cartons foreign brand cigarette and a gold bar worth about Taka 14 lakh from seven separate shopping bags in the flight which came from Sharjah last morning, said Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Mohammad Aminul Islam. He said the passengers temporarily detained for interrogation.
A team of customs officials found the cigarette that came from Sarza around 7.30 am, Islam added. Sept 18, Customs intelligence and investigation officials on Wednesday seized 80 cartons of foreign-made Ezee brand cigarettes, 92 mobile sets and six-liter liquor from three passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Air Arabia at Shah Amanat International Airport.
