Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Monday realized Taka 4.62 lakh as fines from 29 business establishments on charges of different offences, like selling of date-expired goods, packaging without MRP, preparing foods in unhygienic condition and adulteration of food items.
DNCRP in Dhaka, Khulna, Kishoreganj and Natore inspected different markets and fined the business establishments.
DNCRP Dhaka office fined Alam Restora and Mini Chinese Taka 30,000, Ma Biryani House Taka 5,000 and Bismillah Hotel Taka 6,000 at Kalabagan area for making foods in unhygienic environment. DNCRP also penalized Firm Fresh Taka 25,000 and Banoful and Co Taka 20,000 in Wari area for preparing foods in unhygienic condition. DNCRP fined Ovi Bakery and Food Products Taka 30,000 and Mawla Sweets and Restaurant Taka 50,000 in Motijheel area for preparing foods in unhygienic condition.
The directorate penalized Khaja Hotel and Biriani House Taka 10,000, JM Enterprise Taka 3,000 and Jaman Business Store Taka 10,000 at Darussalam area for preparing foods in unhygienic condition and selling goods without Maximum Retail Price (MRP) tag.
DNCRP also fined seven business houses Taka 57,000 in Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur areas for different offences including packaging without MRP, preparing foods in unhygienic condition and selling goods in exorbitant price.
The directorate fined Golap Shah Hotel and Restaurant Taka 40,000, Surjobanu Restora Taka 10,000 and New Muslim Sweets Hotel and Restaurant Taka 50,000 in Jatrabari area for preparing foods in unhygienic condition and adulterating food items.
In separate drives, DNCRP fined three business establishments Taka 65,000 in Khulna, four establishments Taka 16,000 in Kishoreganj, two establishments Taka 35,000 in Natore for different offences including selling of date-expired goods and preparing foods in unhygienic condition, the press release added.
