28 FFs families in Jhenaidah offered houses

The members of the landless and under privileged freedom fighters while suffering badly for want of residential facilities for their own, the smile blown up on their faces when the government had constructed safe shelter home “Birnibash” (shelter for the freedom fighters) for 28 families of the heroes in Jhenaidah. Each of the homes contains two bed rooms, a dining space, kitchen and toilet.
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under the construction of housing for landless and under privileged Muktijoddha Project constructed the house to ensure residential facilities for the heroic sons or their successors with the own efforts of the present government, said a source related to LGED.
Shahera Banu, a mother of two children at village Royera in Sailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah said, she was passing her days in uncertainty when her husband freedom fighter Wazed Ali Dudu Mia died a few years back. The mother with the two minors were passing their days a an abandoned store of the department of agriculture extension in the locality inhuman as the environment was not suitable.
“My fate was changed when I was informed that my name was enrolled in the beneficiary list where the family members of 28 freedom fighters in the district were getting houses form the government.
 At last I get the same on my own land and render my gratitude to the Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina for her continuous contributions for the freedom fighters’ families. Now my children live in own house at the village”.
Showing the house Shahera Banu said, the house contains two bedrooms, a dining space, kitchen, toilet and a cowshed, while the house lacking electricity facilities, she said.
Executive engineer (XEN) of the LGED in Jhenaidah Abdul Malek when contacted said, they had constructed five houses in Jhenaidah Sadar and Moheshpur upazila each, four in Kaliganj, one in Kotchandpur, ten in Sailkupa and three in Harinakundu under the construction of housing for landless and under privileged Muktijoddha Project in last three years.
Admitting some unavoidable matters the XEN said, an amount of Taka over nine lakh was spent for construction of a house. They spent a total of Taka 2.61 crore which was constructed
