Staff Reporter: Early morning fire gutted 271 shanties in a slum in Chattogram city on Monday.
“The fire brokeout around 5:10am at the slum in Anu Majhir Ghat area ,”Toufiqul Islam Bhuiyan, Senior Station officer of Agrabad Fire Service, told journalists.
Fifteen units of the firefighters fought the blaze and doused it at about 8:00am, Toufiqul Islam said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The origin of the blaze and amount of losses caused by it could not be assessed yet, said the fire service official.
