Preparation completed: 255 Durga Puja mandaps set up, 5-tier security measures taken

All preparations to celebrate major religious festival of Hindu Communlty , Saradya Durga Puja have been completed at port city. About 255 mandaps will be erected at Chattogram metro areas this year.
This was declared at the press meet held Chattogram Press Club Conference Hall as arranged by Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad, Chattogram Mohanagar Committee . General Secretary of PUP Sree Prakash Das Asit read out the written statement before the journos .
The press meet placed 12-polnts demand to the govt including 4 days govt holiday for durga puja celebrations . President of Chattogram Mohanagar chapter Adv Chandan Talukder gave reply to the questions of the newsmen . He also demanded proper implementation of vested property act and declaring Setakunda Shrine as national worshop cantre and Dhakewarl Mandlr as National Mandir. He also demanded upgrade of Hindu Welfare Trust into Foundation. The press meet demanded deployment of additional law enforcing forces at every madops to avoid any sorts of nuisances.
Chatogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken five-tier security arrangement to ensure peaceful celebration of upcoming Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
“The foolproof security will be given from a day before Durga puja starts, which will continue until immersion of idols,” CMP Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman told a press conference at his conference room recently. A total of 255 Puja mondops will be set up in the port city this yearwhile the authorities considered 121 mondops as very important, he said.
“The CMP will send 12 members of law enforcing agencies to very important Puja Mondop while eight members to an important mondop and four members of police and Anser to a general puja mondop,” the CMP chief. He said the CMP will also set up a control room to monitor the situationof Durga Puja.
Besides, Mahbubur said, the intelligence agencies are directed to intensify their round the clock vigilance in and around the port city.
The Commissioner claimed that the overall law and order in the port city improved in the last nine months as the rate of criminal acts came down during the period.
He said the CMP has set up nearly 120 CCTV cameras at different strategic points of the port city to monitor the security measures.
The CMP will deploy 2,500 police personnel at 121 points of Chatogram and will set up 32 check posts at different strategic points in the metropolis aiming to ensure foolproof security during Durga Puja.
The five-day Durga Puga will begin on October 15 amidst traditionalenthusiasm and due solemnity.
CMP Additional Commissioners Masudul Hasan, Kushum Dewan and Amena Begum, and Chattogram City Puja Udjapon Parisad Secretary Chandhon Talukdar and itsGeneral Secretary Prokash Das were, among others, present at press conference.
