Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahidul Alam seized 2,500 meters of fishing nets in a drive on Halda River since morning on Monday last. .The drive was conducted on Monday (January 31) from 5 am to 6 am in the area of Bangabandhu Matsya Heritage area in Halda River from Chhatarghat of Hathazari Mekhal Union to Madunaghat area of Burishchar Union. During the operation, these nets were seized in different areas of Hathazari and Raozan portions of Halda River.
IDF Fisheries Officer Rabbani, village police and volunteers took part in the operation.UNO Shahidul Alam said regular campaigns would be launched to protect the mother-fish, dolphins and biodiversity of Halda river. Awareness is important to maintain the natural balance of Halda.
