250 blankets distributed in Rangpur, Dupchanchia

Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) distributed blankets among 250 distressed freedom fighters (FFs) and 10 physically challenged and ethnic community people here on Saturday afternoon.
Chairman of RAKUB Professor Dr Shah Nawaz Ali distributed the blankets at a ceremony arranged at the district command office of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad (BMS) in the city as the chief guest.
District Unit Commander of BMS Alhaj Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, General Secretary of city unit of Awami League (AL) Tushar Kanti Mandal, Acting Rangpur Divisional General Manager of RAKUB Mahbubul Haque, its Divisional Audit Officer Tarikul Alam and RAKUB official Hafizul Islam Hafiz addressed as the special guests.
Presided over by Rangpur Zonal Manager of RAKUB Muhidul Haque, leaders of Rangpur district and city unit commands of BMS, freedom fighters, RAKUB officials, civil society members, professionals and elite of the city attended the ceremony.
The RAKUB Chairman called upon the affluent people, charitable, voluntary and social organisations to stand by the cold-hit poorer section people in mitigating their sufferings from the sweeping cold wave.
Dupchanchia Correspondent adds: Around 100 pieces of warm cloth blankets were distributed among the poor and disable persons with the fund of Gunaher Dakhihinpara Akota Songo under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on recently. The distribution function was presided over president of the Songho S M Ferdaous Alom while correspondent of The New Nation Md Emdadul Haque was speaking as a chief guest. A cold affected disable man Haresh Banduria village of the upazila said, “Akota Songo is a social helpful organization as they work for poor and disable persons with their own fund.” “The government should come forward to help them to extend their humanity work in the area.” He added. Student of Rajshahi University Md. Emran Hossain, Awami-league leader Belal Hossain, Md. Golam Mostafa, Mohsin Ali, Abdullah Al Kafi, Hafizar Rahman, Mahir Uddin, Suzon, Abu Chan, Sayed Mahdi Adib, Md. Tahmid Haque Iram, Dr. Sayeda Iffat Ara and Firoz Hossain spoke among others in the function.
