At least 25 workers in an apparel factory have been hospitalised with sickness after taking food supplied by the management.
Police said that, the incident took place on Monday night at a factory in Savar’s Ashulia near the capital Dhaka.
Quoting other workers, Ashulia police OC Mohsinul Kadir said that the factory management provided workers at the night shift with bread, egg and banana. “Several workers started feeling sick after having the food. Some of them threw up,” he told bdnews24.com. As the number of workers feeling unwell increased, the management sent them to the nearby Gani Hospital. “It seems to be food poisoning due to high temperature. They have been given saline and will be released by Tuesday afternoon,” said the hospital’s physician Asaduzzaman Dulal.
