The winning candidate was allegedly attacked while paying a courtesy call on the defeated candidate in the fourth phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections in Kishoreganj’s Katiadi Upazila on Monday night.
Later, at least 25 people were injured in clashes between the two sides. Several houses were vandalized during this time at Mumurdia area in Katiadi Upazila.
Jamal Mia is a winning member of Ward 5 of Mumurdia Union of the upazila and supporters of the defeated candidate Jahangir Hossain.
