Mobile court formed to prevent violation against Hilsa fishing restrictions on Friday jailed 25 fishermen from 15 to 30 days in Barisal district.
Md. Wahiduzzaman, Barisal District Fishery Officer, said Fisheries Department on Friday operated drives Meghna, Kirtankhola, Arial Kha Rivers and branches under Hizla, Muladi and Sadar upazilas of Barisal district.
During these drives 25 fishermen were detained from early to 10:00 AM Friday for violating 11-day ban against Hilsa fishing started from October 5.
Among the detained fishermen 13 in Hizla and 2 in Muladi upazila were jailed for one month each by the mobile courts led by Enamul Huq and Hadiuzzaman, upazila fishery officers of Hizla and Muladi.
The other 10 fishermen of Barisal Sadar upazila were jailed for 15 days, the district fishery official told.
