Students dropout: 23pc in HSC, 40pc in Secondary level

Despite many facilities provided by the Education Ministry to the students and teachers the dropout rate in Higher Secondary level is almost unchanged since 2012. But the dropout rate in Higher Secondary level in 2015 increased compare to 2014.
The dropout rate was 22.70 percent in 2015, while it was 21.37 in 2014 in 2013, the dropout rate was 21.60 and in 2012, it was 21.80.
The dropout rate in Secondary level is decreasing slightly every year. The dropout rate in Secondary level was 40.29 in 2015 while it was 41.59 in 2014. In 2013 it was 43.18 and in 2012 it was 44.65.
Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information & Statistics (BANBEIS) disclosed the information in its Annual Education Survey 2015 programme held at the BANBEIS auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present the programme as chief guest, while Secretary of Education Ministry Sohrab Hossain was present as special guest.
BANBEIS Director Md Fasiullah presided over the programme, while Chief of Statistics Department Shamsul Alam presented a paper.
Nurul Islam Nahid said, authentic information is a must because it helps to improve the education sector. It is core duty of Education Ministry to provide the right information to the people.
He also thanked the officials of the BANBEIS for conducting such statistics.
Sohrab Hossain said, the false information creates problem everywhere in the society. The officials of BANBEIS should be more cautious during the collection of information, he said.
The BANBEIS statistics also said, the dropout rate in Cycle-school, Madrasah and Vocational (Secondary level) was 40.29 in 2015.
The dropout rate was 6.02 percent in Class VI in 2015, 4.37 percent in Class VII, 19.11 percent in Class VIII, 4.7 percent in Class IX and 13.74 percent in class X.
In Secondary schools trained teachers percent was 67.88 in 2015 while it was 62.32 in 2014. The trained teachers percent was 73.8 in 2013, 72.7 in 2012, 75.36 in 2011 and 68.53 in 2010.
In Secondary schools trained female teachers percent was 65.16 in 2015 while 60.24 percent in 2014. It was 73,9 in 2013, 73.8 in 2012, 77.43 in 2011 and 73.69 in 2010.
The separate toilet facilities for the girls in the schools were 95.16 in 2015 and 94.35 in 2014. It was highest in 2011 as the separate toilet facilities for the girls in the schools were 96 percent.
In 2015, 82.21 percent schools amused computer facilities while it was 80.35 in 2014.
The Internet connection was 72.98 percent schools in 2015 while it was 69.11 in 2014.
The government ensured drinking water in 96.51 percent schools in 2015 and it was 96.57 in 2014.
After primary education completion 95.61 percent students entered into the secondary education in 2014 while it was 95.15 in 2013.
