A meeting was held in Nilphamari District Administration to ensure proper completion of the upcoming Durga Puja on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by the DC Begum Nazia Shirin.
According to the District sources this year puja will be held 857 Puja mandaps in six upazilas. 278 in Nilphamari Sadar, 94 in Domar , 76 in Dimla, 169 in Jaldhaka, 153 in Kishorganj and 87 in Saidpur Upazila.
General Secretary of Puja Udjapan Committee, Nilphamari Adv Ramendra Nath Bardhan Bapi, said, “the Durga Puja is a biggest religious festival for the Hindu community and we are hopeful for the peaceful celebration of Durga Puja as the District Administration is spontaneously helping us”.
While contacted with Ashraf Hossain, SP, Nilphamari said, “We hope the festival will be celebrated peacefully. Our huge team is always staying active at all the Puja Mandaps in the district for the safety of the general visitors”. In this connection, the people of the community are taking preparation to celebrate the festival with due fevour.
A law and order review meeting was held at Collectorate Conference Room yesterday. District Magistrate Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
Among others SP Md Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM, RAB- 14 Company Commonder, ASP Md Shafiqul Islam, 13 Upazilas UNO’s, Hindu Kallan Trusti Members, Intelligences, and Hindu Community leader of 13 upazilas were present in the programme.
DC Md Sarowar Morshed Chowhdury said that, 402 mandaps setup in the district.
Gafargaon (Mymensingh) Correspondent says: Preparations for a five -day celebration of ‘Sharodiya Durga Utsab’ the main religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu Community are going on at 19 mandaps in Gafargaon Upazila.
The festival will start tomorrow at 19 puja-mandaps of this upazila informed Dilip Kumar Roy president of Gafargaon upazila Puja Udjapon Committee . It will conclude with immerson of the idols and images of the deities in different rivers, canals, and ponds amid exchanging greetings of ‘Bijoya Dashami’ on October 19′ said, Anil Roy Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad , Gafargaon Upazila Unit. OC Abdul Ahad Khan, of Gafargaon Thana and OC Mukhlesur Rahman Akanda of Pagla Thana urged all the Hindu community to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm and religious fervor. Police will take tight low and order for holding the Durga Puja in this upazila free and peacefully. UNO Dr Shamim Rahman of Gafargaon informed, all kinds of safety measure will be taken to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm and religious fervor.
BSS from Rangpur reports: The government has allocated 469 tonnes rice for distribution among 938 Puja mandaps to assist the Sanaton community to celebrate their upcoming greatest religious festival Durga Puja in the district.
“The district administration with assistance of the upazila administrations and local units of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) is distributing the rice among the mandaps authorities,” said Acting District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) Abul Hayat.
Earlier, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief allocated 500 kilogram special general relief rice for each of the 938 Puja mandaps in Rangpur city, three municipalities and eights upazilas of the district.
Under the programme, 83 tonnes of the general relief rice is being distributed among the authorities of 166 Puja mandaps in Rangpur city corporation area and 47 tonnes of rice among 94 Puja mandaps in Sadar upazila.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: A total of 132 puja mandaps get financial support worth Tk 2.69 lakh from Zilla Parishad here on Saturday.
Zila Parishad Chairman Muhammad Ali Sarker formally handed over the cheques to the respective Puja mandap committees at its office for celebrating the forthcoming Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.
Speaking on the occasion, he said Bangladesh has set a bright instance in the field of establishing communal harmony. People of all faiths are now living in the country with peace and tranquility as the present government is pledged bound to establish communal harmony in the society.
Meanwhile, idol makers commonly known as pauls are passing their busy days in finishing the final stage works of idols of Hindu deities ahead of Durga Puja festival in Rajshahi city including nine upazilas of the district.
After today, the largest religious festival of Hindu community “Durga Puja”
is going to start. That’s why, Pauls are working round the clock to make sure that the idols are ready in time.
The Pauls hope for earning better earnings this year as the number of puja mandaps has increased in the region.
Tapan Kumar Sen, trustee of Hindu Religion Welfare Trust, told BSS that the Durga puja will be celebrated in more than 422 puja mandaps including 70 in Rajshahi city from October 14 to 19. Around 500 idol makers are engaged in making idols for Durga Puja in the region.
Decorations of temples, lighting, and setting up of mandaps have already turned the city into a festive look.
