2,300 leprosy affected, disabled men to get reliefs in Gaibandha

A total of 2,300 flood affected leprosy patients and persons with disabilities including the ultra-poor of four upazilas in the district would get relief materials from the Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh (TLMIB) within few days.
The relief materials would be distributed to the flood victims of Sadar, Shaghata, Fulchhari and Gobindaganj upazilas of the district through Gaibandha-Jaypurhat Leprosy Care and Rehabilitation project under its Emergency Relief distribution to Flood Affected People in Gaibandha, the TLMIB sources said.
The relief distribution activity started today on the premises of Folia Govt. Primary School under Boali union of Sadar upazila here around 11 am under the initiative of TLMIB.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the relief distribution activity among the flood hit people of the union under the upazila at a function as the chief guest while chairperson of the school managing committee ATM Rashidul Islam presided over it.
The DC thanked the organization for standing beside the flood victims with relief materials aimed at mitigating their sufferings caused by flood.
Each of the 191 flood victims of the union got 10-kg of rice, 2-kg pulse, a kg of salt, a litre of soybean oil, a soap and 4 packets of saline.
Project manager Jeorge Biswas, finance manager David Singh, technical support officer Keshob Chandra Roy and area development officer M. Sariful Islam and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman including local elite were present during the relief distribution programme.
