A total of 22 dwelling houses in a slum were burnt in a fire in Fisheries Ghat area under Kotwali thana in the city on Wednesday morning, fire service and local sources said.
The fire, originating from an electric shot-circuit at a house at 7 am today, engulfed the dwellings in the slum.
Rushing of four vehicles and firefighters to the spot saved a huge quantity of valuables of some slum houses and stopped spreading of the flames around 9 am.
