Health Minister Zahid Maleque said on Sunday, about 22 per cent doctors still remain absent at their workplaces across the country.
“Wherever I go, I have to face the question about the quality of health services, but I cannot satisfy them. The doctors have been tarnishing the image of the health service,” he said.
The Minister said this while speaking at Children’s Day programme organised by Directorate General of Health Services in the auditorium of Institute of Public Health and Nutrition on Sunday.
Health Secretary Asadul Islam and DGHS Director General Abul Kalam Azad, among others, spoke at the programme.
“Please ensure your presence at workplaces. If you do it, it will bring huge reputation in health services in the country,” the Minister said.
He also asked the doctors to render quality services to the patients with the best use of the available facilities.
He asked the hospital authorities also to ensure cleanliness, beds, medicines and proper waste management.
The Minister said that he would try to make the Health Ministry the best Ministry in Bangladesh by next five years.
“I want the people of the country to certify us saying that the Health Ministry is the best Ministry,” he said.
‘Please work with sincerity and with a mind of sacrifice to serve the nation as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did for the people,’ he urged the doctors.
