At least 22 people, including 14 with rubber bullets, were injured as students of a school clashed with police in Bahubal upazila of the district on Wednesday. Witnesses said the clash ensued when the students, their guardians and members of school management committee of Dinnath Model School encircled the office of upazila secondary education office to press home their demand to nationalise the school around 11 am.

Witnesses said the clash ensued when the students, their guardians and members of school management committee of Dinnath Model School encircled the office of upazila secondary education office to press home their demand to nationalise the school around 11 am.
Police fired rubber bullets and lobbed tear gas shells on the agitating students that left 20 people injured.
Police said as the students vandalised Bahubal police station and threw brickbats towards the law enforcers at one stage of their demonstrations they resorted to rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.
Bahubal thana officer-in-charge Md Maniruzzaman said four people, including two students, were arrested after the incident. Superintendent of police of the district Joydeb Kumer Bhadra visited the spot. Additional police have been deployed to avert further trouble.
