22 dead, 2,381 infected with Covid-19 in 24 hours

Bangladesh reported 22 more fatalities from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said it on Monday.
Besides, 2,381 detected new coronavirus infections in the same period, Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said during a regular press briefing in Dhaka about the outbreak of the virus.
Professor Sultana said the death toll now stands at 672 while the total number of infected has reached 49,532.
She said, the recovery tally has also climbed to 10,597 after another 816 patients were recovered and released from hospitals across the country in the same period.
The DGHS official said that total 11,439 samples were tested in 52 laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours.
The rate of infections from the samples tested in the last 24 hours is 20.81 percent, while the recovery rate currently stands at 21.39 percent, said Dr. Sultna. The mortality rate from the disease is 1.36 percent, according to the DGHS data.
