The speakers at the rallies held in the port city Chittagong demanded punishment to the criminals who attacked on the grand rally of Awami League on August 21 in 2004.
The leaders of political parties and social organisations alleged that the leaders of opposition BNP might be involved with the attack on Sheikh Hasina and other Awami League leaders. They attacked in planned way to destroy the Awami League and make the party without leadership, they alleged.
The political parties including Awami League and its sister concerns, CPB, cultural organizations observed the bloody 21 August with demand of punishment to criminals who were involved with the attack.

Chittagong South District Awami League President Moslem Uddin Ahamod presided over the rally.

Another rally held at Zila Porishadm Hall in the city in the afternoon. City Awami League Vice -president Mahatab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the rally.

Besides, ruling Awami League hoisted black flags at the offices of Chittagong North, South and City committees. Milad Mahfil, Iftar Party and Quran Khani were arranged by the Awami League and its sister organizations on August 21.
CPB held a rally at its office at Hajari Lane in the city. Besides, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jubu League and other sister organizations of Awami League held rallies in observance of the day.
