Staff Reporter :The BNP-led 20-party alliance has strongly criticised the government for killing of its leaders and workers in the ‘so-called gunfight’, and said that the government had issued the ‘clearance of murder’ in attempt to cling to power. In a statement issued on Wednesday signed by BNP vice-chairman Begum Selima Rahman, the alliance said, “The ruling coalition has become desperate to suck the blood in fear of losing power. So it is now killing the people by staging the drama of the so-called gunfight.” Alongside with the gunfight drama, the government is also provoking the terrorists of the ruling party by issuing the order of ‘shoot at sight’. The government won’t be able to save itself through killing, abduction, repression, arrest and filing false and fabricated cases against the 20-party men, says the statement. The BNP-led alliance strongly condemned the killing of Khilgoan Chhatra Dal leader Nuruzzaman Jony and Narail Ward Commissioner Imrul Quayes, also a Jamaat leader who were reportedly killed in ‘gunfight’ with DB police in Dhaka city on Tuesday and Monday respectively, and killing of Chapainawabganj Chhatra Dal leader Motiur Rahan. Theses killings are the latest barbaric examples of extra-judicial killing, the statement said. “We are drawing the attention of the international forum to the extra-judicial killing,” the statement also said. Referring also to some other recent killings of the 20-party men, the statement said that the government would be responsible for every killing and it would be docked once.
