20-party alliance concerned over Washiqur killing

The BNP-led 20-party alliance on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the killing of blogger Washiqur Rahman at South Begunbari in Tejgoan Industrial Area of the city in broad daylight.
In a statement, signed by BNP joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu, the 20-party also demanded the government mete out exemplary punishment to the real perpetrators of the brutal murder.
The alliance alleged that the criminals taking advantage of ‘state terrorism’ stabbed the blogger to death in broad daylight.
Barely five weeks after the killing of blogger
Avijit Roy, unidentified assailants hacked Washiqur Rahman Babu, 27, a blogger and an employee of Far East Travels Ltd, near South Begunbari Jame Mosque around 9:30am on Monday, leaving him critically injured.
Washiqur was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 11:00am.
Meanwhile, a court here on Tuesday placed the two suspects arrested over Washiqur’s killing in eight-day police remand as they were produced before it with a 10-day remand payer.
