At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Hogladanga village in Sreepur upazila on Thursday.
Awlad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said Abdul Malek and Mizanur Rahman had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
As a sequel to the enmity, supporters of both, equipped with sticks, attacked each other around 8.00am, leaving 20 people injured.
A chase and counter chase took place among them during the four hour long clash.
Ten houses were vandalised during the incident.
Being informed, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.
Of the injured, seven were rushed to Sadar Hospital.
None was arrested in this connection.
Additional policemen have been deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
