At least 20 dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire near Technical Training Centre (TTC) in the town on Wednesday night.
Additional director of Rangamati Fire Services and Civil Defense Golam Mostafa said the fire might have been originated from gas stove of a house and soon engulfed the adjacent houses.
Fire fighters from Rangamati rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one hour frantic effort.
No actual financial losses were so far known although the victims claimed that the loss may surpass Taka one crore.
