2 youths held for ‘spreading rumours’ on YouTube

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two youths, including administrator of online channel SKTV, on charge of allegedly spreading anti-state rumours on YouTube from the city’s Uttara area on Saturday.
The arrested youths have been identified as the admin Khalid Bin Ahmed, 30, and his associate Md Hisbullah, 21, a BBA program student of a private university in Dhaka.
Acting on secret information, a team of RAB-1 conducted drive in Sector-13 of Uttara early in the morning and arrested them in connection with
‘spreading rumours’, said Lt Colonel Mohammad Sarowar Bin Kashem, Commanding Officer of RAB-1.
The two youths have been posting fake videos on their YouTube channel, Sarowar claimed.
They used to alter videos of eminent citizens and organisations and published those on their channel, the RAB official said.
The videos have been deemed as defamatory, Sarowar added.
They have recently uploaded photos and videos over quota movement, safe road movement, former Chief Justice SK Sinha and other issues, he further said.
