2 women killed in Bagerhat road mishaps

An unidentified woman (45) met her tragic end when she was crushed under the wheels of 4 separate vehicles on Bagerhat-Khulna Highway near at Dharer Bridge under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district recently according to a report received here.
SI Jamal Uddin of Katakhali Highway PS under Fakirhat Upazila that the unidentified woman was mentally imbalanced. On the night while she was walking on the one side of the highway a speeding passenger bus bound for Bagerhat dashed her and fled away. As a result, she was thrown on the highway and almost at the same time a truck loaded with goods bound for Dhaka coming from the opposite direction crushed her and fled away. Just after a few whiles a speeding passenger bus bound for Dhaka ran over the dead body and fled away. As a result the dead body was scattered about. At last a Mahindra (a three wheeled vehicle) bound for Katakhali ran over the same.

On seeing the matter a number of locals chased the vehicle, caught it, ransacked it and manhandled its driver. Being informed of the matter police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for its autopsy.
Another report states that a married woman (60) was killed on the spot when a speeding ambulance dashed her violently on Amlapara road in Bagerhat district town on Friday in the afternoon. The deceased was identified as Marjina Begum, wife of one Nur Islam of village Kesabpur under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district.
According to a number of eye-witnesses, while the ill-fated woman was crossing the road at about 5 pm the speeding killer ambulance dashed her violently from her behind and fled away. As result, the woman was fatally injured. Some locals recovered her and admitted her to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
