2 women held with 64 gold bars at HSIA

Customs officials in a drive seized at least 64 gold bars weighing about 7.5 kilograms worth around Tk 3.5 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the city on Monday afternoon.
They also arrested two women passengers of a domestic flight in this connection.
The women have been identified as Jesmin Akhter, 20, and Zerin Begum, 18, customs official said.
Dhaka Customs House’s Joint-Commissioner SM Sohel Rahman said that a team of customs officials searched the luggage of the arrested women in the
airport area based on information when they landed at the airport from Chittagong.
They recovered the gold bars from their possessionand arrested them in the afternoon, the official said.
They arrived at the airport by Bangladesh Biman from Chittagong around 12:00pm, he said.
He said that, the arrested women had been handed over to Airport Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection, the customs official said.
