Two women committed suicide in the city’s Kafrul and Eskaton areas on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Shuvadra Poly, 18, daughter of Ram Charan Das, resident of Kafrul, and Mariam Yasmin, 32, wife of Kazi Anisur Rahman, resident of New Eskaton Road, police said.
Quoting the relatives, Kafrul Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Sohel Rana said that Poly committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling fan at her brother’s house around 1:30pm.
The body had been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, the SI said. Mariam committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling fan at her rented house around 3:00pm, Ramna Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) AK Azad said.
He added that she might have committed suicide centering family feud.
The body had been sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official said.
