2 trains narrowly escape head-on collision

Two commuters trains narrowly escaped a collision after coming on same track in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi on Thursday afternoon, saving the lives of hundreds of passengers.
The trains entered the same track at Arani railway station around 1:00pm but both drivers managed to stop the trains by applying their skill.
An Ishwardi-bound mail train from Rajshahi was standing on No. 1 platform at Arani station. At that time, another passenger train ‘Kapotaksha Express’ also entered the same platform despite No. 2 was cleared for it.
In this situation, driver of ‘Kapotaksha Express’ train stopped it 30 foot distance to avoid collision.
During this, passengers of both trains were seen rushing and panic gripped them.
Being informed, Bagha Police Station Officer in-Charge along with companion force  
rushed to spot and brought the situation under control.
Arani Station master Ekramul Haque said the incident took place due to mistake of point man.
But point man Rawshan Ali said the ‘Kapotaksha Express’ entered the station before fixing point.
Normalcy returned on train movement after half an hour.
