Traffic sergeants Md Moshiur Rahman and Shakawat Hossain of CMP closed from duty for alleged harassment to satellite TV journalist Nayan Barua and camera persons Ahadul Islam Babu. Sources said on Friday evening at about 6 pm, these alleged traffic sergeants indiscriminately beaten TV camera person Babu and driver Azim at Badamtali crossing in city .
While protesting their inhuman torture by staff reporter Nayan Barua , traffic surgeants also beat him . Sensing the news , the Ctg journo leaders swooped on the spot and demanded immediate punishment of the police officials. Deputy police commissioner of Traffic(Bandar) Fateha Yasm in, and Additional Dy Police Commissioner(Bandar West) Chatra Dhar immediately came up on the spot and ordered instant closed their duties . A probe committee also formed in connection, sources said.
Six ‘muggers’ arrested with arms: Chittagong police claimed to have arrested six muggers with a locally-made gun, two cartridges, a dagger and machete in Polo Ground area in the city on Thursday.
They are Shahidul Islam Jisan, 23, Md Khokan, 22, Rabiul Hossain Mamun, 22, Lyek Hossain Hridoy, 20, Ibrahim Khalilullah, 24, and Md Junaid, 20, said Mohammed Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
