2 to die for killing street boy

A court here on Monday convicted two people and sentenced them to death for killing a street child in 2005.
The condemned convicts were Anwar Hossain alias Shankor Chandra Devnath, 27, a tailoring shop employee in Narinda in the capital and Jakir Hossain, 26, son of Tajul Islam.
According to the prosecution, four people, including the two convicts, picked
up an unidentified street boy aged about 8-10 from Kamalapur Rail Station and took him to Gazipur Bhawal alluring him of giving a job in a local restaurant April 9, 2005.
Later, they strangled the boy to death and severed his head from the body. Shankar, who had previous enmity with tailor master of Suza Tailors in Paltan area, killed the boy in a planned way for blackmailing the tailor master with the severed head of the boy .
Later, local people caught Shankar red handed with the head of the boy and handed him over to GRP police.
Gazi Mohammad Ibrahim, sub-inspector of Motijheel Police Station filed, a case with GRP thana.
On June 1, 2005, Rafiqul Islam, investigation officer of the case, submitted a chargesheet against the two convicts. Later, Shankar made confessional statement before the court under section 164.
Meanwhile, court pressed charges against the duo on April 30, 2006. After examining the records and six witnesses, Dhaka First Additional District and Sessions Judge SM Saiful Islam handed down the verdict.
