2 testify in BUET student Abrar murder case

Two employees of BUET testified yesterday in the case filed in connection with the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad in October last year.
Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka recorded the depositions of the witnesses. They employee Kamrul Hasan and Security Guard Md Mostafa. Of the 60 prosecution witnesses, 37 testified so far. Later, the court fixed November 29 to record the depositions of more witnesses.
Earlier on October 5, Md Barkat Ullah, father of the victim and complainant of the case testified in the case while the defence lawyers cross-examined him. During yesterday’s hearing, twenty-two accused, now in jail, were produced in the court while three others are still on the run.
The same tribunal on September 15 framed charges against all 25 accused of the case.
Abrar, a second-year student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of BUET, died after he was brutally beaten allegedly by some Chhatra League men at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university in the early hours of October 7, last year.
Later, his father Barkatullah, filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19 BCL leaders of BUET unit.
On November 13, last year, detectives submitted a 105-page charge-sheet against 25 BUET students in the murder case.
